Goodrich can provide a range of solutions from the more
traditional complex hydro-mechanical systems still used on some turboprop
applications to electronically controlled units.
Fuel Pumps
Engine driven fuel pumps provide a source of high pressure fuel to the
combustion chamber to provide the required levels of thrust. High pressure is
also used to provide power to the engine actuation systems. On smaller aircraft
fuel at intermediate pressure these also provide motive flow for the ejector
pumps located in the fuel tanks and these ejector pumps act as fuel boost
pumps.
Fuel Metering Units
These are used in conjunction with the engine electronic control. They
traditionally have no inherent computing capability and provide a fuel flow that
is determined by the current signal generated by the engine electronic control.
The fuel metering unit can also provide a flow dividing function to the pilot
and main burners. Alternatively independent flows dividers can be
provided.
