CECO History & Company Overview

Our Company’s rich successful history in fuel controls leadership dates back to 1938 when it was known as Chandler Evans Control Systems or CECO. Company founder Milton E. Chandler’s dreams of developing fuel controls began with the design, manufacture and sale of aircraft air-box carburetor controls used on propeller powered vintage aircraft engines of the early 1930’s & 40’s. These included Cyclone engines used by both the US Navy and TWA on its fleet of DC-3s as well as the C-47 US Army, Lockheed “14” used by Howard Hughes to circle the globe and the B-25 attack bomber. The venerable Chandler Evans name was retired and replaced by Pump & Engine Control Systems in 2001. Our name change coincided with the parent corporation’s change from BF Goodrich to Goodrich Corporation. The name changes were made to better describe the businesses and customers that we service and support today.

During the years we have kept our technology leadership position in fuel pumps and controls by introducing low cost and reliable FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) electronic control systems to the commercial and military helicopter OEM engine manufacturers. Our variable displacement vane pump (VDVP) provides variable flow control in a simple, robust and inexpensive “smart” package which pumps and meters fuel. Our LOLA (liquid or light-ends air) boost pump family offers fuel delivery under the most adverse of fuel inlet conditions.

Today, we are defining tomorrow’s fuel control solutions with research and development efforts and contracts awards including: Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), US Army’s advanced control system for the next generation helicopter program and the US Army’s Universal Control platform for next generation control upgrades. We continue to develop new products solutions addressing market needs of customers in General Aviation, land based power generation and marine applications.

World-class design, engineering, qualification, manufacturing and after market support is provided from our West Hartford, CT ISO 9001/AS9000 approved plant facility. We offer maintenance and overhaul support services, aftermarket sales support and AOG emergency support services to minimize downtime. As an operating division of Goodrich Corporation, PECS provides small company customer support and responsiveness backed by the larger resources of a fortune 500 company. Goodrich is ranked among the top 10 on Fortune magazine’s list of “Most Admired Companies” in the aerospace industry and was just named to Forbes magazine’s platinum list of “America’s Best Big Companies”. We look forward to supporting your fuel metering and control system needs.
